BRAIN AND LANGUAGE LAB (BL2)

BL2 is an exploration of biological mechanisms and environmental factors of how individuals aquire language, a research by Dr. Laura-Ann Petitto, uses a variety of new approaches, including Cognitive Neuroscience investigations such as modern brain-scanning techniques (fNIRS, fMRI, PET).

CENTER FOR ACCESSIBLE TECHNOLOGY IN SIGN (CATS) 

CATS is a joint project between the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and the Georgia Institute of Technology. CATS is dedicated to providing accessibility to learning via sign language. CATS has been awarded the American Library Association Grolier Foundation Award, 2004 for its contributions to children's literacy.

CHILDREN OF DEAF ADULTS (CODA) 

CODA is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of promoting family awareness and individual growth in hearing children of deaf parents. This is accomplished through providing educational opportunities, promoting self-help, organizing advocacy efforts, and acting as a resource for the membership and various communities.

COLOR OF LANGUAGE

Color of Language is a non-profit company which develops educational materials for Deaf children and their families. It hopes to promote early intervention, development of language and cognitive skills for infants to adults, by providing sign language instruction for family members to encourage communication.  

CONVO RELAY

Convo Relay is deaf-owned and develops Video Relay Service (VRS) technologies that allow phone conversations for ASL signers living in a global economy.

DAWNSIGNPRESS

DawnSignPress creates, develops, and publishes quality ASL and Deaf culture books and videos for everyone, deaf and hearing alike. Known for publishing the Signing Naturally series to teach ASL, also check for family-friendly baby board books, live action fairytale DVDs, and publications devoted to Deaf Art, history, ASL instruction and interpreting. 

DEAF AZTLAN

A deaf Latino network that gives information about ASL/Spanish/English interpreters, deaf Latino-owned businesses, and resources.

DEAF BILINGUAL COALITION

The Deaf Bilingual Coalition promotes the basic human right of all Deaf infants and young children of having access to language and cognitive development through ASL.

DEAF CULTURE CENTRE

The Deaf Culture Centre is a public forum located in the heart of Old Town Toronto, Canada. A project of the Canadian Cultural Society of the Deaf, this center features a museum, art gallery, gift shop, research and archives, state-of-the-art technologies highlighting deaf historical artifacts, and television and multimedia production studio.

D.E.A.F. PROJECT

The Deaf Education And Families (D.E.A.F.) Project consists of faculty and staff associated with the Family Focus Resource and Empowerment Center at CSUN, as well as faculty in the Deaf Education Program in the Department of Special Education. They consult with faculty in the Deaf Studies Department and National Center on Deafness.

DEAF STUDIES DIGITAL JOURNAL 

This website is founded by a team at Gallaudet University. It aims to share the importance of promoting and educating ASL as to ensure preservation of Deaf Culture and sign languages. 

DEAF TV   

DeafTV is an international online television website dedicated to providing sign language video content for the Deaf and signing community. Their mission is to showcase sign language culture in mainstream media outlets, and to support deaf filmmakers, actors and entrepreneurs. DEAF WEST THEATRE

DeafWest strives to directly improve and enrich the cultural lives of the 1.2 million deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals who live in the Los Angeles area by providing exposure and access to professional theater, filling a void for deaf artists and audiences. Their goals are to serve as an institution for the discovery and exploration of artists' identities and stature and create, share and preserve a legacy of deaf culture through the medium of Sign Language Theatre.

Organized since 1924 by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf, the Summer and Winter Deaflympics are among the world’s fastest growing sports events.

KODAWEST

KODAWEST is a non-profit organization that serves hearing children of Deaf parents. They bring these Kids of Deaf Adults (KODAs) together in a support/peer group type of environment, such as camps and cultural enrichment programs. With this unique fellowship, these children will gain confidence and wisdom which will help them develop a better understanding of, and ability to embrace their two worlds: the hearing and the deaf. This organization also aims to provide resources and support workshops to deaf parents who face common issues while raising their KODAs.

HANDSPEAK

HandSpeak is a content site on sign language, consisting of ASL online dictionary, grammar tutorials, fingerspelling, literary arts (storytelling and poetry), ASL writing, and other features.

IDEAFNEWS.COM

iDeafNews provides live- and pre-recorded video news via the Internet specifically oriented to the interests and education of deaf and hard of hearing people. They believe in the universal value of education and provide relevant news to signing viewers.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF (NAD) 

NAD is the nation's premier civil rights organization of, by and for deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the United States of America.

NAD YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS  

NAD Youth Leadership Programs prepare young deaf and hard of hearing Americans to become future leaders and advocates by increasing their self-confidence, sense of community, and thirst for knowledge. These programs include the Junior National Association of the Deaf (Junior NAD) chapter network and biennial conferences, the annual NAD Youth Leadership Camp (YLC), the biennial Miss Deaf America Ambassador (MDAA) competition and ambassadorship program, and the biennial College Bowl competition.

RESOURCE GUIDE FOR PARENTS OF INFANTS AND TODDLERS WHO ARE DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING

A panel of parents formed by the California Department of Education (CDE) released evidence-based and balanced information about young deaf and hard of hearing children's needs to have healthy language, social, and emotional development. The goal of this resource is to advocate for these children to enter kindergarten with age-appropriate language skills. 

THRIVING WITH YOUR DEAF CHILD

A parent-friendly e-brochure created by California School for the Deaf, Fremont, that offers parents information about the importance of deaf babies having an early foundation in ASL so they may experience healthy development in cognitive, social, and academic skills.

VISUAL LANGUAGE AND VISUAL LEARNING (VL2) PARENT TOOLKIT

VL2 Toolkit holds a wealth of research-based informational resource toolkit funded by the National Science Foundation and provides information on ASL language acquisition milestones, communication and language activities to use at home, and lots of other exciting resources. 

WORLD FEDERATION OF THE DEAF

World Federation of the Deaf is an international non-governmental organization representing and promoting approximately 70 million Deaf people's human rights worldwide. The WFD is a federation of 133 nations. The mission is to promote the human rights of deaf people and full, quality and equal access to all spheres of life, including self determination, sign language, education, employment and community life. WFD has a consultative status in the United Nations and is a member of International Disability Alliance (IDA). The WFD secretariat is located in Helsinki, Finland.
